Discover Trainz Kickstarter

In November 2013 N3V Games announced a "Kickstarter" campaign. Kickstarter is the world's most popular crowd funding website and operates on the principle of people pledging funds to support a project that would probably not happen without their support.

Here's the "Short Brief" version of the Kickstarter pitch:

Kickstarter Success

N3V Games ran this Kickstarter for two main reasons. The first was obviously for funding assistance to help bridge the gap between the cashflow at the time and the expected outlay to upgrade the underlying technology to bring Trainz into the "next generation" of technology. The other reason was to gauge the size of the community who would be prepared to support Trainz during a lengthy development phase.

As it turned out, 1791 individuals contributed an average of just over $100 each and without their support, Trainz would probably not exist today. We don't it before and we don't mind saying it again - thanks to every one of our supporters for helping make TANE possible.

Kickstarter Updates

One of the big parts of a Kickstarter campaign is community involvement. The Updates Page provided information to supporters throughout the funding period and afterwards as we continued development work.

Here's a quote from the post two weeks prior to release day in May 2015:

To celebrate the "dawning of a new era" in train simulation, here's a sneak peek at the awesome new "sun" post-processing effects
